Appeal for witnesses following indecent exposure – Newbury

Dear Resident,

We are appealing for witnesses to an indecent exposure in Newbury.

At 5.30pm on Tuesday a man was seen indecently exposing himself on the towpath of the River Kennet, alongside Toomers Wharf and opposite the Canal Bar. He then kicked a woman in her sixties, causing her to fall into the canal. She was assisted out of the canal and did not sustain any serious injuries.

Police attended and were also assaulted by the man.

A 35-year-old man from Leicestershire has been arrested in connection with this incident and remains in police custody.

We believe the towpath was busy at the time of the offence and that there are a number of people who will have seen what happened who have not yet spoken to police. We are asking for anyone who witnessed the incident to please get in touch.

You can report information online or by calling 101, quoting reference 43250356463.
